Flying Sites

The MARKS Club sports currently one main flying site: Our Greenspot field is about 3 miles East of the city of Highland. The runway has a polymer surface, is 500ft long, and 40ft wide. The runway has a slight slope but it is extremely flat. We have an 80ft shade structure, setup tables, and a port-a-potty on site. We took one year to build this site and it came out great. Every month we add new features that make flying at Greenspot even more enjoyable.

During winters with lots of rain we have a big lake just down the runway in Greenspot where we can fly float planes.

Things to note: Because of the vicinity to the Redlands GA airport we have a ceiling of 400' AGL, we do allow jets, however, smoke systems are prohibited. Check also our Flying site rules. You need a key to get to this site - during competitions and events we will have either a member at the gate or a cell phone number posted where the code for the number lock can be obtained.

If you would like to check out the field please send an e-mail to our Greenspot Field Director (Booker Woods) or to our Vice President (Jim Levell).

Rabbit Dry Lake: About 45 minutes away from San Bernardino in Apple Valley, there is another exciting place where our members frequently can be found. As hinted by its name this is a dry lake bed in the desert, very flat and most importantly big. Because of its size this site is, therefore, frequently used as a test bed for new models. The flying area is easily accessible through a dirt road from Route 18. As with the Little Mountain flying site, Rabbit Dry lake is shared by RC model enthusiasts and no membership is necessary.
